Roman Mythology

In Roman mythology, Saturn was the god of agriculture. Every December 17th, in Roman times, Saturnalia was celebrated beginning on December 17th, and at various times extended to 7 days of celebrations, creating a period of goodwill, devoted to banquets and the exchange of visits and gifts.

Farther from the Sun than Pluto, Sedna was discovered in 2003. Scientists believe the temperature there never goes above -400° F, so they proposed naming it Sedna after the Inuit goddess who lived in an icy cave at the bottom of the ocean.
